The Evolution of Diamond By Appt

1932 

Val Kryshak opens his jewelry store/watch repair business on the 2nd Floor, above the Fox Drug Store, in what is now part of Washington Square. His uncle A.L. Kryshak owned the building and had a cigar factory on the 3rd Floor.

1956

Val Kryshak bought this building at 4th & Washington.  He passed in 1958 after a car accident.  His wife, Virginia, & the 2nd generation continued operations. His grandson Mark McKinley, joined the store in 1987. He bought his aunt's share in 1996 and continued running it with his mother, Christine Kryshak, until 2007.

2007

The Diamond Showcase building was purchased and Val Kryshak Jewelers began doing business as The Diamond Showcase until January of 2020.

2020

Seeking a better life/work balance, Mark created Diamond By Appt. Ironically, the business came full circle. As his grandfather did, Mark now operates a jewelry business on the 2nd floor of 3rd Street, just one block north of the original store, in Grand View Offices.
